Scholarships for studying Russian in the Karelian Republic (Russia)

2008 is the year of the foreign languages! That’s why we offer scholarships for studying Russian at the Russian Language School “Discover Russia” in Karelia

You have been studying Russian for a long time ….

- Would you like to practice your Russian language in the land of thousands of lakes and woods?

- Would you like to experience the Russian way of living at first hand?

- Would you like to taste real Russian “bliny” and “borsch”?

APPLY for the scholarship, covering the tuition fee in our Summer Russian Language Program in July or August 2008

To apply for the scholarship you need:

• fill in an application form at our site http://education.karelia.ru before April, 7 2008
• imagine yourself as a great writer and write your composition on one of these topics:

1. “Adventures of foreigners in Russia: humor story about your traveling around Russia”,

2. “What stereotypes and myths about Russians are still existing in your country”,

3. “Free composition” - you are free to choose your own topic

• send it by email to our coordinator Darja: international@karelia.ru before April, 14 2008

Who is eligible?

• any person who has taken not less than 300 hours of Russian language in his home country or abroad
  
• any person at the age of 18-35 years

The decision on the candidate who gets the scholarship will be made by a jury which consists of 3 members and presented at our site on April, 21 2008

Russian Language School “Discover Russia” in Karelia
invites youth and adults to visit Karelia and improve Russian language skills in summer 2008

Our participants attend morning language classes, stay with Russian families and visit the most interesting sights of interests in Karelia.

In summer 2008 we offer the following language courses:
One to One courses
Dates: any time you wish. You may choose any duration of the course: 10, 15, 20 hours per week.
The tuition fee is: 8 euros per 1 hour.

Summer Active Russian Language program for youth
Courses:

• "Let's speak Russian", basic level;
• "Easy about difficult things", the first certificate level;
• "About Russia and Russians in Russian", the second certificate level

Dates: June 2 - June 27, June 30 - July 25, August 4 - August 29, September 1 - September 26

The tuition fee is: 240 euro for 4 week course. The following is included: 20 hours per week, all course materials, information package with the map of Petrozavodsk and visitor information, 24 hour emergency support provided by the coordinator.

Intensive Language course for Adults
Courses:
"Let's speak Russian", basic level;
"Easy about difficult things", the first certificate level;
"About Russia and Russians in Russian", the second certificate level

Dates: May 5 - May 16, June 2 - June 13, June 30 - July 11, August 4 - August 15,
September 1 - September 12

The tuition fee is: 450 euro for 2 week course. The following is included: 60 hours, all course materials, information package with the map of Petrozavodsk and visitor information, 24 hour emergency support provided by the coordinator, 2 excursions to Waterfall Kivatch, Martial Waters spa and Kishi museum on island in Onega lake, Russian home stay with meals, breakfast and evening meal.

Russian Language program in a mini-group for everyone
Courses:
"Let's speak Russian", basic level;
"Easy about difficult things", the first certificate level;
"About Russia and Russians in Russian", the second certificate level

Dates: May 5 - May 30, June 2 - June 27, June 30 - July 25, August 4 - August 29,
September 1 - September 26

The tuition fee is: 270 euro for 4 week course. The following is included: 60 hours, all course materials, information package with the map of Petrozavodsk and visitor information, 24 hour emergency support provided by the coordinator.

Deadline for applying: 1 month before the program starts (you will get tourist visa for 30 days).
